How the platform fee works
OnlyFans keeps 20% of every fan payment, according to its Terms of Use, and Fansly says creators receive 80% of subscriptions, sold media, messages and tips (both checked 22 October 2026). So for both platforms, net is gross minus 20%, before refunds, chargebacks and tax. How and when that money reaches your bank is explained in our guide to OnlyFans payouts; what a reversed payment costs you is in chargebacks.
Why the split between messages and subscriptions matters
Two accounts with the same total can be very different businesses. An account that earns mostly from subscriptions depends on renewals and content rhythm. An account that earns mostly from messages depends on an inbox that is attended, including at night. The calculator shows your share from messages, because it tells you which lever matters most. Our guide on the subscription price covers the first case; the results page shows accounts where messages make up more than 80%.
Set money aside for tax
The payout is not your profit. Put a share aside every month, and agree the real figure with a tax adviser in your country. The default of 30% in the calculator is only a planning placeholder, not advice.

Questions creators ask
Does OnlyFans take 20% of tips too?
Yes. OnlyFans' Terms of Use set its fee at 20% of the total fan payment, and tips are fan payments. Fansly also says creators receive 80% of subscriptions, sold media, messages and tips.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or sent.
How much should I set aside for taxes?
It depends on your country and situation. The 30% default is only a placeholder for planning. Ask a tax adviser for your real figure.
